Priority Communications strengthens consultation services

Community consultation and engagement is a specialty of our team, and we’re proud to share that another of our team members, John Hobbs has recently gained an Engagement Institute (formerly International Association for Public Participation (IAP2)) Certificate of Engagement. From nationwide consultations to engaging with local communities and gathering input from staff on organisational change, community consultation and engagement has been part of our core work for many years. We are really proud that John has joined others in the team with an engagement qualification.

By John Hobbs

Stakeholder engagement has been an important part of my career. From writing about community consultation on local government issues as a reporter to preparing engagement strategies and driving large scale engagement activations as a practitioner.

One of the things I enjoy most about this kind of work is helping organisations understand what matters most to their stakeholders when making important decisions, and helping stakeholders have a voice on the things that impact their lives.

Every time you work on a project, you gain new skills and insights to apply to the next one. But having an anchor of best practice methods and ethics to draw upon is essential in making you a truly professional. That’s where the Engagement Institute (formerly IAP2) comes in.

Recently, I have completed the Institute’s training modules to gain accreditation as an engagement practitioner and a Certificate of Engagement.

I thoroughly enjoyed the five courses I completed and gained a lot of valuable knowledge from them. They also offered the opportunity to meet and network with other practitioners from Australia and New Zealand.

Training courses included designing stakeholder engagement plans, facilitation, conflict resolution and evaluation – all following the industry standard model for best practice.

As Engagement Consultancy Members of the Engagement Institute, Priority Communications upholds the association’s core values and ethics of consultation and engagement, ensuring effective, best practice approaches for businesses and organisations seeking to speak to and hear from their communities.

And, as one of the team members with an accreditation, it means that when your business or organisation procures our services you know you will be supported by a qualified team who can use best practise methods to help elevate your consultation, involve your stakeholders and get meaningful results.
